    Day 1: Windhoek

    Olive Grove Guesthouse-DBB
On arrival at Windhoek International Airport, you are met by your guide and transferred to your guesthouse. After checking in, you have some time to relax before your guide takes you on a city tour, which is followed by a welcome dinner at one of the local restaurants. It is important to book flights that arrive by lunchtime.

    Day 2: Quiver Tree Forest

Quiver Tree Forest Restcamp- Full Board
An early morning departure for the south takes you to the northern edge of Keetmanshoop. You enjoy a picnic lunch en route. After check-in, you have time to relax before going out on a walk in the Quiver Tree Forest. Quiver trees are endemic to the southern highlands of Namibia and grow in desert or semi-desert areas. These trees were given their name from the practice of the San people manufacturing quivers for their arrows from the bark of the branches.

    Day 3: Luderitz

    Luderitz Nest Hotel- Full Board
After a hearty breakfast, you continue to Luderitz, stopping over in Aus for lunch. Aus is a small village which started as a trading post in 1883 and later housed a prisoner-of-war camp at the onset of World War I. After lunch, you continue west, stopping by the Garub waterhole to catch a glimpse of the feral horses of the Namib. Your journey continues west, where you will have your first stop at Kolmanskop, a once vibrant town where diamonds were discovered in 1908.

    Day 4: Luderitz

    Luderitz Nest Hotel- Full Board
Today, your guide will take you to visit Kolmanskop. You leave the hotel before sunrise, the best time to photograph the town, which is now at the mercy of the Namib Desert. Your guide can include a scenic drive to Diaz Point, where it is possible to spot penguins on one of the islands.

    Day 5: Sossusvlei

    Dead Valley Lodge- Full Board
From LΓΌderitz, you travel to Sossusvlei. You stay inside the national park for 2 nights (depending on availability), giving you access to Dead Vlei at dawn to photograph the iconic camel thorn trees in silhouette against the red dunes. Afternoons can be spent in the dune corridor or at Sesriem Canyon. Optional balloon rides can be arranged and fitted into your program by your guide. Please note that these will need to be booked well in advance and are at an extra cost.

    Day 6: Sossusvlei

    Dead Valley Lodge- Full Board
The following 2 days are spent photographing Dead Vlei, Dune 45, the Sesriem Canyon or the dune corridor. The name Dead Vlei refers to the trees in the marsh that died about 900 years ago when the Tsauchab River was cut off by the dunes. Named for its proximity to the Sesriem gate, Dune 45 is said to be one of the most photographed dunes in the world. It is approximately 170m high and composed of 5-million-year-old sand that has turned red due to age and rusting of the grains.

Day 7: Sossusvlei & Dead Vlei Excursions

    Dead Valley Lodge
You have a morning dedicated to either visiting the dunes again or experiencing a thrilling balloon ride over the dunes.

Today, you depart for Swakopmund. You head north, crossing the Tropic of Capricorn, through the Gaub and Kuiseb Canyons via the Namib gravel plains, as you make your way to the coast. Before reaching Walvis Bay, you visit the bird paradise where hundreds of flamingos and a variety of seabirds can be spotted. The Namibian coastline is known as the Skeleton Coast due to the barren areas, shipwrecks, seals, and whale skeletons scattered on the beach.

    untitled 0927 11629.jpg
    Day 9: Spitzkoppe

    Spitzkoppen Lodge- Full Board
An early morning departure takes you to Spitzkoppe via the Cape Cross seal colony. At Spitzkoppe, sunset and night photoshoots are a great way to spend time in this photogenic area. The area is home to a group of granite peaks or inselbergs. Standing at a height of 1,728m above the surrounding plains, Spitzkoppe is also referred to as Namibia's Matterhorn. The area also boasts a collection of San/Bushmen paintings. A visit to the San paintings can also be arranged by your guide during your stay.
